Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye



Busch Will Chat with Maye at Paley Center Oct. 31

The Paley Center for Media, located on West 52nd Street in Manhattan, will offer "Marilyn Maye: 'The Tonight Show' Appearances" Oct. 31.The 2 p.m. event will feature an hour-long compilation reel of famed singer Marilyn Maye's appearances on "The Tonight Show." Maye, who was booked on the talk show 76 times, holds the record for the most appearances by an individual singer. Playwright Charles Busch will chat with Maye following the screening. The screening will include the following "Tonight Show" episodes:

2/12/1975: "It's Going to Take Some Time" / "Maybe This Time"
7/17/1975: (Johnny Carson announces it's Maye's 59th appearance) "So Easy to Remember So Hard to Forget" / "The Way We Were"
1/23/1976 (Johnny announces it's Maye's 60th appearance) "The Need to Be"; Maye comes out later to sing a second song, "Let Me Be There"; afterward, Maye goes to the couch and talks with Johnny
7/30/1976: "The Song Is You"; "Here's That Rainy Day" / "Stormy Weather"
12/16/1976: "By Myself" / "Being Alive"
3/17/1977: St. Patrick's Day (Johnny Carson introduces Maye, saying she was called at the 11th hour and "put together an intimate thing with Doc and the boys" that very afternoon) "Danny Boy" / "That's an Irish Lullaby"
9/6/1977: (Johnny announces it's Maye's 70th appearance) "This One's for You" 11/7/1979: "Those Were the Days, My Friend" / "I Will Survive"; "As Time Goes By" / "I Cried for You"
